orchard and is preparing to set out
a large number of strawberries this
spring. He will also try onion culture.
Wade Brooks has rented 400 acres
oi land from his father, S. L. Brooks,
for this season.
Sheriff Chlldera waa here on busi
ness yesterday, ,

dwelling papered and stained inside.
He has had some , photographs taken
of his fine .horses', among them six
3-year-olds that avearge over 1700
pounds,
Mrs. James Andrews and Miss Etta
Coble visited Mrs. Vernle Masters yes
terday. After running about a mile yester
day a sly coyote tried to swim Willow
creek, but was too slow and was soon
captured. One hound In this pack hap
killed 12 alone this winter. Many
people wish for a bounty on thes?

C. W. Nessly of Prosser, who owns
considerable property, at this place,
Intends to built a fine residence on
the southeast corner of his 60-acre
tract on Military hill and will come
here to reside. He has platted his
tract and already has sold three five
acre tracts. On the south side of the
tract near where ho will build his
house he Intends to give every other
lot away to people who will build a
house upon it.
Mr. Nessly is a valuable citizen In
any community and hua done much
towards advancing Prosser. He start
ed the fruit growing in the Grande
Ronde valley that has since grown In
to a great Industry. He planted the
first orchard of marketable apples and
divided his farm Into small tracts.
Since that time thousands of acres of
orchard have been planted and hun
dreds of cars of apples are shipped
yearly from that point. Pullman
