Tha Boise Capital Neva say:
Tha 1 Follette club held a busi
ness seeelon at the office of B. E.
Blaine, when reports were made from
thoee carrying petition, aaklng for
expressions of friendship for tha can
didacy of the Wisconsin senator.
The reports were more favorable
than were anticipated by those who
started the movement In the Interest.
of La Follette. Although the peti
tions have been out only a week and
no especial effort was made by those
arrylng the petitions to secure slg
natures, each of them returned their
copies with some 25 to 30 signatures.
Efforts along this line will be pushed
Arrangements have been made to
hold weekly meetings on Thursday
nights for the future, the meetings at
present being held at the office of S.
E. Blaine In the old Bank of Com
merce building. Later the meetings
will be held In the city hall.
No great activity has been under
taken so far. but soon efforts will be
made to extend the movement to all
parts of the state. Relative to this
movement In the west, particularly In
Idaho, the Milwaukee Press hns the
following to say:
That Senator La Follette will have
large support from the west Is the be
lief of Senator A. M. Son.lull, Madi
son, who was In Milwaukee yester
day. He has been traveling In several
Western states for several months in
private buplness IntereM. and he took
notice of the La Follette sentiment In
the went. He said:
"Senator Sanborn's rKtlmnte of 22S
votfg for La Follette on the first bnl
lot l conservative. If the sentiment
of the rank and file of the people Is
expressed In the republican conven
tion La Follette will have the solid
support of the west. From personal
observation at the places 1 have vis
ited. 1 am convinced that 65 or 70
per cent of the voters of the west are
for La Follette.
"I think Oregon, Washington, Ida
ho, South Dakota and Minnesota will
send La Follette delegatea without
question, if time would suffice for
8enator La Follette to reach the peo
ple hi. nomination would be certain.
"A La Follette club was org.nlzed
last week In Boise, Idaho, La Fol
lette headquarters are established at
Portland and Eugene, Ore. J. ' O.

lette movement In Oregon. LouU .

"William B. Flett, a lawyer la Be
attle, formerly of Merrill, la leading
tha La Follette movement la Wash
ington. "Francis J. Heney, district attorney
m San Francisco, la the leader of a
strong anti-railroad, anti-machine
fight In California. I think that he
will win out and the delegatea from
California, while they will probably
be instructed will be In sympathy with
the principle, for which La Follette
stands.
"The reports of the leader, in these
and other western states are beyond
expectation. This, with what I have
personally observed of the popularity
of La Follette, convinces me the- west
is for him and that his opponents will
be much surprised by his showing In
the convention. He Is without ques
tion one of the leading, If not the
leading candidate at the present
time. And his strength is increasing
daily."
