'Comment From O. A. C.
"The. state of Washington gave
$502,000 to their state university;
Idaho gave $174,150. What did the
state of Oregon give to our State unl
verslty? It Is a very deplorable state
of affairs when the Institutions of
learning must go begging. Washing
ton gives more money to one of Its
nstitutlons than the state of Oregon
gives to them all. e have .no Nor
mal appropriation, and now the op
ponents of a higher education would
like to cripple the university. Ore
gon should have the first place pro
vlding for Its schools, instead of trail
Ing at the end. We are certainly able
to give a liberal appropriation to all
those Institutions which stand for ed
ucation and enlightenment. Here's
our heartiest wishes to the U. of O.
that she will obtain the appropriation
so much needed." O. A. C. Barom
