The dinner of the West End Wom
en's club will be held at the Hotel
Astor. It will be the first banquet
ever grKen by republican women in
New York, and their Invitation to
Governor Hughes to be the principal
speaker la considered as an expression
of their opinion on the presidential
situation. Congressmen Bennett, Wal
ter Chandler, Miss Helen Vailck Boa
well and Mrs. James G. Wents will be
among the other postprandial speakers.

for a conference, which will continue
through three days.
The three departments of the ser
vice grazing, organization and special
uses are represented.
Representatives of the government
forestry bureau are also here. This
district, so far as grazing is concerned.

States. Out of 6,000.000 sheep on all
the national forests, half are grazed
in this district, and out of a total of
1,000,000 head of cattle and horses,
nearly one-third are In this district.
According to the forestry supervis
ors, the total area of the United States
national forests Is now 150,000,000
acres, of which 26,000,000 acres are
In Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. During
the last year this district has sold
250.000,000 board feet .of timber from
the national forest reserves.

Ann Arbor, Mich., Jan. 16. It Is
announced by Dr. H. S. Copeland of
this city, president of the National In
stltute of Homeopathy, that Oklaho
ma City, Okla., has been definitely de
cided on as the place for holding the
coming congress of the institute In
June. Dr. Copeland has received sat
isfactory assurances that the metrop
oils of the new state will be able to
care for the 1000 physicians who are
expected to attend the session. The
selection of Oklahoma City has met
with the approval of physicians all
over the country, who are anxious to
visit the new southwestern 'state.
Canners to Meet.
Cincinnati, O., Jan. Is. Arrange
ments were completed today for the
entertainment of the hundreds of del
egates who will be here from Maine to
California to attend the convention of
the National Canners' association
which will open In Cincinnati on the
first day of next month. The canners
of Maryland are already making plans
to secure next year's convention for
Baltimore.
