Now comes the most exciting time of the evening. The selling of the cake to the ugliest lady In the house started off rather slow; but finally names were put before the house and the ball started to rolling. The fol lowinii ladles were the candidates: Misses Grace Hulse, Ruby York and Edith Woodruff. For almost an hour the candidates and their friends were Molictting votes from all over the house. For some time It was rather doubtful who was going to be the ucky one, but finally Miss Woodruff ucceedcd in winning the cake by the receipt of 976 votes; Miss Hulse re ceived 878 and MIhb York 189. The otes being worth 1 cent each, the cake brought $20.44. , After this exciting time the cake was sold to the most handsome man. On account of the hour being late ami the crowd getting tired, this was not so exciting. But the amount that this cake , brought was surprising to II who were present. The following men were tile cana mates: Messrs, Frank Grelner, Albert Felk and D, C. Wilson. For some time the auc tioneer and the supporters of the can- i bargains. didates were solllctlng votes; but when the time was called. It was found that Mr. Wilson was the win ner, receiving 352 votes, Mr. Felk 81C, and Mr. Grelner 85. These votes being worth a cent each, the cake brought $7.02.
