The one hundredth anniversary ef th
poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, will

brations will be held in Portland, Me. and
Cambridge, Mass with which cities the
life of the poet is most closely connected.
The Minnesota, one of the largest class
of American battleships so far put In ser
vice will be delivered to the Government
at the Norfolk navy yard next Wednesday
Democrats of Michigan will meet in
state convention at Flint next Thursday
to name candidates for justice of the
supreme court and regents of the state
university.
The fourteenth annual Sportman's shew
will open in Madison Square Garden, New
York, next Friday and continue for on
week.
Congress will doubtless put In a very
busy week as it will be th final stretch
of th session, which will xpir by limi
tation on March 4. Ther is any quanity
of business awaiting attention, but the
limited time will give the leader a good
excuse for confining themselves to the
necessary appropriation measures. The
