How about that city park proposition?
Some few months ago the cityN council
was busy securing title to the lot on 4th
street formerly occuniad bv the olj mil.
with the end in view of making a small
ty park. This was a good move and
one which should not be allowed to die
from want of attention. At present the
half block is used by the city as a lumber
yard. On all sides of this lot are some
of the finest residence in the city and to
say the least, the adjoining property own
ers are not receiving the proper consid
eration at the hands of the city official,
when they are confronted by these m-
ghtly lumber piles, road scrapers and
pile drivers. The lot should be parked
and a few shade trees planted. Now is
the time to begin to get ready.

It is noticeable that Representative
Herman Rothchild did not take the pre
caution to wire the result of the division
contest to Union. Republican.
It is not surprising that Representative
Rothchild did not notify any'of the citi
zens of Union that the county division
bill had been killed. It was simply
matter of courtesy on the part of Mr.
Rothchild to notify anyone and an inves
tigation of OJfr .result of the primary and
general election will disclose the fact that
Mr. Rothchild did not receive a single
vote at"the primary election in Union and
out of a total vote cast at the June elec
tion of 419 Mr. Rothchild received only
21. These must have been accidents.
