The eight annual ball to be given by the
Elks of La Grande on Februarv 22 is
going to be a notch better and more elab
orate than the former seven according
to the amount of work and preparation
the Elks are giving ic Ihe Commercial
Club is being elaborately decorated today

tracted and on Friday evenins the Com
mercial Club auditorium will be the Meca
of all Elke in La Grande and a large
number from Baker City.

superceded by a banquet at the Hotel

MARRIED AT BAKER
This afternoon just before five o'clock.
W. H. Weeks of this citv was united in
marriage to Miss Ethel Lenvilie of Cor-
vallis.at the home of the bride's suter.
Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Patterson, in Bauer
City.
Only a few relatives witnessed the cere
mony, as performed bv Rev. M. S. Bush
late of Corvallis .but now Presbyterian
The bride is the dauohter of Mr! and
Mrs. Lenvilie now residing at Corvallis.
She left a large circle of friends in her
girlhood city, and it is no prediction to
say that she will soon have a large num
ber of intimate friends in her new home.
The groom is a conscientious young man
of sterling qualities. He ie secretary of
the Blue Mountain Creamery Company.
Mr. and Mrs. Weeks will be at ham

The afternoon Katie Klatch will meet
musical telt-ctioni constituted the oro
gram. Piano solo by Misses Elsie Ackles
and Ivy Long and vocal solos by C S
Williams and Geo. L, Cleaver and a violin
solo by 0. M. Heacock entertiined the
guest. A real cherry tree was brot into
the room and in trying to pin cherries on
it limb while blindfolded, the guests
found much amusement. Cherry pies,
coffee and nuts constituted the refresh
ments. Much credit is due to the ladies
of the Methodist church who managed
the social. Such of the arrangements as
could be attended to orior to trie Guests'

NEIGHBORHOOD CLUB MEETING
The Neighborhood Club held another of
its f.l.asant meetings yesterday after
noon. No literature having been received
on the studv course for the new year, the
discussion on the new year's course was
necessarily postponed until the next reg
ular meeting.
