not be a candidate for the office ot mayor
for another term but on account of recent
developments aad of matters that- have
come to my knowledge I am put into a
position wherein I am compelled to.-come
to the front as a matter of principle and
incidentally to give the "boys some fun.
Tram a monaotary standpoint - there is
r.o induce Tien t whatever to accept the
office in fast the duties of the office en

in the service of the city and money spent
for expenses. There is no salary nor
emoluments and prequitites incident to
the office, and no remuneration, m a coar'
er form, such as "graft" or "rake off even
though a person desired to be a grafter.
I think every man should - be paid for
