Ralph Cibton, the three-year-old boy
who was held at the Blue Mountain
hotel pending the arrival of its rightful
mother, hat taken full charge of the
hotel, and all who happen around the
hotel, promptly become worshippers of
the little tot. Last evening, when Mr.
Johnson returned to the hotel after an
hour spent up town. Master Ralph heard
him coming, and was at the door to meet
him. "Up! up!" was the first gurgling
articulation Ralph made, and when safe
ly landed in Mr. Johnson's arms he twin
ed his little arms about the benefactor's
neck, cuddled his yellow cu'ls close to
Mr. Johnson's face and shouted "Big ug!"
Contentment and happiness marks every
lineament of the intelligent face. Altho
only three years old, he articulates quite
distinctly and to visitors at the hotel he
exhibits his numerous articles of apparel
and toys which have been supplied him
since coming to the hotel, for the cloth
ir.gthst ccvcrcd the little tot i h
came here was exceedingly scanty, and
dirty,
Ralph has won the hearts of all who
see him and last evening while perched
on the counter in the hotel, industriously
tooting a mouth organ, he had about him
a half-score of admirers. When bed time
came he trotted off to the parlor still
blowing his mouth organ, where Mrs.
Johnson took him in to his be4.

- SAN fRAIKlS(0 BONDS CO BEGGING
(Bcrlpps News Association)
San Francisco, Feb. 14. For the third
time San Franbisco has offered $1,500,
000 of street bonds and received no bids.
It is difficult to determine whether this is
because the bonds are not regarded as a
profitable investment at three and a half
per cent or because of the lack of con
fidence in the present municipal adminis
tration. As the bonds are of such an
amount at to bar the small investor legis
lation will be sought by which the bonds
may be issued in denominalione of ten
dollars which would place them in the
reach of muiy thousands of people who
have small savings which they would be
glad to invest in safe securities, even at a
low rate of interest.

AMUSEMENT
"HUMAN HEARTS"
If there is any virtue in newspaper
commendation, and if the endorsement of
the public at large, for the past ten years
is to be taken as a citerion. then "Human
Hearts" which will be presented at
Steward's opera house Wednesday Feb.
20. is certainly entitled to take rank as
the 'Great American Drama.'
During the many years that "Human
Hearts" has been presented in this
country, the praise accorded it by news
paper critics and the general public has
been universal. There have been no dis
senting voices; the verdict of approval
has been unanimous. Even rival Mana
gers have graciously acknowledged that
"Human Hearts" is a mighty good play.

ST VALENTINES DAY DYING OUT
(Scrlpps News Association)
New York. Feb 14 St. Valentines day
was observed here and thruout the country
as usual but there did not eeem to be as
much interest in the day as in former
years. Valentines of all kinds were sold
in the shops during the past few weeks
but the demand was much lighter than in
years gone by and the mails were not by
any means over burdened with work on
account of valentines' From all parts of
the country it is reported that the demand
for valentines was far smaller than ever
before and all things point to the death of
St Valentines Day in the near future.
