0. E. Harper returned yesterday from
Sumpter where he had been on creamery
business. He reports that snow is four
feet deep in the streets of Sumpter,' but
nevertheless the city among the mount
ains is pickng up from its overbooming
of a few years ago and business is again
on a substantial footing and on the in
crease.

Russian man-of-war that took part in the
late Russo-Japanese war and has mast
ered the Japanese style of wrestling. He
was a prisoner in s Japanese fort for
some time. He has been in La Grande
for about two' months and is in condition
to fight either of the two styles.
It is likely that a Jap will be brot to
this city by local Japanese to accept the
challenge stated above.
