may lose the sight of his right eye. 4

Shaver, an old miner, was hunting in the
timber land and Leap was working on his
mining claim on the Dyke, and stepped
into range jjst as the other shot at a bird.
Altho Leap was screened by bushes from ,
the sight of the hunter he managed to
signal that he was in range in time to
prevent a second shot.
Leap's face was badly lacerated by
the shot, and is literiy peppered with it.
The doctors believe that it is scarcely
possible to save the eye.
