There were 123 legal executions in the
United States for 1906. Sixty-eight
persons lynched, nearly ten thousand
people murdered, the exact numher 9350
of this number 605 were committed by
highwaymen and burglars. The statistics
show that 10,125 committed suicide.
One startling thing being the noticeable
increase in the number of men, being
nearly three times as many as women.
The rural mail carriers running of this
city have received their natty new uni
forms. The boys look swell. Three
more uniform men will be the result when
free city delivery is established by the
government. We are entitled to it and
have been for over one year.
At a Socialist meeting to be held in

the recent reduction in O. R. St N. freights

denies it as being simply a new years gift.
The ordinance pursued by the council
last night prohibiting manure into the
streets and alleys, if enforced, will soon
make a decided change in the appearance
of the city.

ADAMS AVENUE
The statement that the heavy steel
passengers cars that ware thrown from
the track the other day in an accident on
the Boston St Albany division of the New
York Central were but little damaged is
the strongest kind of argument in favor
of the general adoption of cart of this
class. The train was running at a forty'
mile rate when the cars left the rails, and
while they were thrown about in wild
confusion, not one of the many passen
gers was fatally hurt
