SOCIETY Mr. and Mrs. Neri Ackles last evening celebrated their silver wedding day. at the bom of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Ackles, About thirty-fiv friends of the family war present and partook of the good will and happiness that permeated the atmosphere of the occasion. The host and hostes re ceived their friends in honor of the twenty-fifth annivessary of their wedding day, at the horn of Mr. Ackles' father and mother. Early in the evening music was rendered by Mis ei Elsie Couch, of Island City, Dolli Zuber and Elsie Ackles. When luncheon was announced, the bridal party. consisting of the host and hostess, who were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Os- burne, Geo. Ackles and Mrs. Wilbur of Union, were ushered into the dining room by a wedding march by Miss Elsie Couch, with as much ardor and happiness, as did the bride and groom of twenty-five years ago. The dining room was decorated with more than ordinary taste and skill. Above the festal board hung a hug snowy bell, and from the fastenings of this ornament to the corners of the room were hung many silver ropes that glistened in the candlelight of the room. Sideboards and even the huge clock on the mantle were covered with silver ropes and imitation snow. As the group was seated, waiters itrf on it with a four-course luncheon. This phase of the celebration was up io the high standard already created and was a genuine treat, Th remainder of the house was prettily decorated in Christmas greens and formed a pretty contrast with the white and sil ver of the dining room. The silver bride and groom were re cipients of many valuable presents, all of which were of heavy silver varieties, jtj was close on to midnight before tho an- j mversary came to a close, and when the guests withdrew it was after the bride and groom had been congratulated and wished the best of luck for a long life. A pretty little house wedding was solemnized last evening at 3ix o'clock at the M. McMurray home, when Miss Blanche McMurray was united in mar riage to Archie E Kelley of Perry, by Rev. C. E. Th host tiss had secured a booth at th Spokane Cdfe, and had it decorated with so much taste and labor that when th guests were ushered in, th place resembled a shady nook in a pin forest more than booth in a res tou rant. Oq, th table was aminiatur Christmas tree, beautifully lighted with tiny candles and loaded down with presents for th guests. An elabor ate spread was then arranged.
