orchestra will be the social event of next
week. The membersof that musical club
are working diligently to make it worthy
to be called the best (fence of the year.
Christ Stackland returned to Cove this
afternoon after spending the Dast few
days in the city, He was elected vice
president of the Union County Good Roads
Association last evening.
Mr and Mrs Burt Haug of Roosevelt,
in the Thunder Mountain district, are
visiting Mrs Susan Robinson of this city.
They came here from Spokane where they
visited friends
Roy Good nough, who hat been spend
ing several montht in Wallace, Idaho,

VACATION IN RURAL SCHOOLS
County Superintendent E. E. Bragg,
says that the holiday vacations thruput
the county will be short for the reason

the teacher's convention in Pend leton. In
most cases the rural seh.ols will have but
two days' vacation, that of Christmas day ;
and New Years day.
CATHOLIC SCHOOL VACATION .
The CathoPc boarding school closes to
day with a short program. About twenty
of the students will leave for their various
homes tonight and to morrow.

Salem, Dec 21 Henry Hose, aged 22.
was hanged at noon for the murder of
Madge Doyle, alias Wilson, in Portland,
last October. He admitted the crime on
the scaffold and prayed for forgiveness.
The jurors who convicted him witnessed
the execution

STUB TRAIN
Passenger train number 1 this morn
ing, was a stub from Huntington, the
