AMUSEMENT
CHRISTMAS DATE
M ss Alberta Galiatm. starring in
'Dorothy Vernon of Haddon Hall" the
p'ay built from Charles Major's book,
comes to Stewards opera house on Mon
day December 24.
The time of the p'ay dates back to the
happy-go-lucky days of the good Queen
Eess, and the neighborhood in which the
action is supposed to have taken place is
t.-.at surrounding Haddon Hall, one of the
bes: preserved of the Elizabethan manor
houses. The story was dramatized by
Paul Kester. The star appears as a
wilful and imperious young girl, vibrant
between determined self-indulgence and
splendid seifabegnation. She is in turn
playful and serious, self-cantered and
se;f-forgetfiil, domineerng and submis
sive, and filled with a cunning altogether
without guile, a character which eives
Miss Gallatin ample scope for the display
of her talents. A strong supporting com
pany is carried.

The Cuban Review, under the head of
"Notes From- Omaja" has the following
to say of Mr. Piatt who was formerly in
the nursery business in this city. '
"Mr. Plant's vegetable garden is doing
excellently, He his raised good crops
of watermelons, tomatoes. Kaffir corn,
beans, and cucumbers. His oranges are
doing well, and he is putting out quite a
lot more. Mr. Plant, a.ong with many
othars, is convinced that this soil will
grow anything: accordingly he is about
to put out some celery."
