Miss Violet Chattm of Summerville is
visiting her sister, Mrs. Robert Smith.
Mrt. William Thomas was taken quite
ill Saturday night, but is much better at
the present writing.
Mrs. Earnest , Johnson and children
spent Thanksgiving with home folks at
Elgin.
Miss Nelle Grimmett of St. Paul's
School. Walla Walla, arrived Wednesday
night to spend Thanksgiving vacation
with her parents.
Wiss Minnie Holman, who is teaching
near Elin, arrived on Wednesday night's
train for a visit with her folks until Sat
urday. There was a social dance Thursday
night in Russell Hall given by Clinton Ir
win and Lewis Clegg.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Scott of La Grande
ate Thanksgiving turkey with Mr. and
Lee Humphrey.
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bidwell were
Thanksgiving guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Bidwell of Union.
Mr. Ed Kiddle wired Monday that his
sister. Mrs. Head, had stood a successful
operation and hopes are entertained for
her recovery.
Mrs. Henry, Spence. the Misses Mulin
burg. and Mr. Floyd Jones attended the
Island- Elgin football game. Thanksgiv
ing. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hunter and little
son.'.EIryn, came out from Wallowa, Sat
urday night, and are visiting in the par
ental Hunter home.
Prof. J. E. Reynolds returned Thursday
morning from attending the State Teach
ers' Association at Pendleton, and went
on to Elgin to see the big football game.
Mr. ana Mrs. William Hunter were
host and hostess at a dinner given only
to relatives Thanksgiving. There were
about thirty guests invited and it was a
day ot pleasure to all concerned.
