ISLAND CITY WINS
Isiand City yesterday tied another scalp
to tiier list of dangling victories
when they tr.mmed up Elgin, at the
latter' field to tne tune of ten to noth
ing. The field at Elgin was snowy and slip
pery, causing frequent fumbles, and stum
ping, isiand City repeated her former
tricks in the first minute of play, that
of scaring on a fumble. Island City kicked
off to E'gin but a fumble soon gave the
oan to island ot E'gin's fifteen yard line
and it was short work to carry it over.
For a considerable length of time after

school this af'ernoon defeated the Port
land high school team by a score of ten
to nothing. Baker City had it consider
ably her own way and showed a superior
ity of her opponents that was marked

Education Congress commenced its an
nual session in the Tremont temple here
this forenoon when, there was a large at
tendance of prominent educators from all
carts of the states in attendance. Edu
cation for Citizenship" was the subject
spoken on by President tliot or Harvard
Ho asked the concress to consider if
children at present were getting the kind
of education that would enable them in
mature years to give the right support to
the state. The state, he said, has tne
power to demand and would demand that
the education necessary to accomplish
this end be given to children. Governor
Guild and Mr. 3. H. Martin, secretary of
the Massachusetts Board of Education,

' questions for discussion are "The School
i as a Social Organization", "the School and
I the family", and "Commercial Education".
