Real rheumatism is due chiefly to the
passage into the blood of element which
should normally have been carried from
the body by way of the kidneys. ' These
elements are the product largely of brok
en down tissue. The liver may be over
worked, so that it wears away too fast;
it may be ill-nourished, so that it wears
