EIGHT GIRLS OF THE CREAT SINGING CHORUS-STEWART OPERA CO.
TONIGHT
Tonight the famous S'ewsrt optra
compary begin its erg:jimert at the
Stewart Of tra houe. preser.tirg "The
Two Roses" a comedy opera in two acts
book and lyrics by Stanislaus Stange
music by Ludw g Englader. Of this
highly successful o.Tering of the west, in
his review in the (Portland) Oregon
Journal of Sept. I? said:
The Stewart conpany (m a delicious
hit of a prima donna who is charming and
can run her vo ice up the scale ladder
until you loose sight of it in the flies.
Als ). the company has a tenor that is
delightful to thj ear, a come:ian that it
realiy funny, a character woman who
knows a thing or two, and, above all,
William G. Stewart with his rich capti
vating voice and his captivating stage
presence.
"The Two Rose's" is "She Stoops to
Conquer" made into an opera. The theme
is a happy one of course, and is worked
out happily. John Cort deserves the
thanks of a suffering public forgiving such
a worthy production.
