MUSEMENT
All admirers of the chaste in art. all
lover of things beautiful a well as the
many well-wishers for the betterment of
the stage and the development of its
possibilities for the benefit of mankind
will without doubt be pleased to learn
that the forthcoming production of Wag
ner's famous mystic drama, "Parsifal"
is announced for Thurs. Oct. 25. at the
Opera House.
No production that has ever been pres
ented to the American oublic has baeri
received with such universal commend
ation and praise that has been accorded
"Parsifal" wherever produced. Scholar
ind artists, press and clergy, theatre
goer and church goer, all have joined in
acclaiming it the gentlest, sweetest and
riosl gratifying story ever enacted upon
the stage. This spontaneous outburst of
appreciation is not occasioned, as one
would be inclined to imagine, because the
play emanated from the brain of one of
the greatest geniuses that ever lived.
Richard Wagner. Other great men have
written great plays. The cause lies in
the fact that the beautifnl story told is
one that appeals direct to the heart and
soul of every man or woman that has a
spark of blood in their veins; that every
speech and action used in the develop
ment of the simple story are so intensely
dramatic that one sits absolutely en'
thralled with their power and expressive
ness, hverything and all pertaining to
the play is so different from what we
riave been so long accustomed to witness
ing upon the stage, that one almost seams
to be in another world while under its
maanetic and Armr jr.fl'jer.ss. Y
watch and wait with baited breath, each
succeeding action and word of the char
acters appearing in the play. You do
not wish to lose one word or act of the
whole spectacle, for each one seems to
be weighted with so much significance
and relation to the one proceeding' it that
you fear lest you might lose the thread
of the thrilling and soul stirring theme and
story. It is this intense interest, this
absorbing attention, that the play exacts.
that holds you spellbound from beginning
to end of each of the four acts of this
remarkable production.
SHE STOOPS TO CONQUER
"The Two Roses" will be the first of
the two light operas which the famons
btewart Opera company will present at
the Opera House durincr thair ancaoa-
ment. which is for two nights,' Friday
ann Saturday. Oct. 26 and 27. Of this
highly successful comedy opera, which
will be seen here with all the costumes
scenery, properties and assessories. the
same as during an engagement at the
Broadway Theatre in New York City, it
will be of interest to our theatre goers to
know that the story is a very clever
lyric adaption by Stanislaus Stange, of
Oliver Uoldsmith s delightful comedy
'She Stoops to Conquer," which is un
doubtedly one of the most popular of the
fc-nglish classics. Comedy of this high
class nature, coupled with the beautiful
music which Ludwig Englar.der has com
posed for it has entitled "The Two Roses"
to hold its place as one of the greatest
musical successes of recent years.
On Satuiday night Alfred Collier's
charming comic opera "Dorothy." The
production for this splendid offering is
said to be fully as elaborats as that used
for "The Two Roses."
