Miss Elizabeth Magie, aged 24 years
of Washington and one of the government'
$10 a week stenographer who admit
that she is beautiful and talented, has
made the most amazing offer to the New
York World ever published ma newspaper
Miss Magie is modest enough to confess
that in temperament she slightly resemble
Mary MacLane, the "poetess ot Butte"
and announce, that she will sell herself
to the highest bidder.
She offers to become a slave and will
ell her talent to any one who consider
them of efficient value to purchase. She
yearns to wear silks and diamonds and
will become tie property of the person
who can provide them in the srreatest
profusion. She says "typewriting is hell,"
and she longs for an easier and more
luxurious life. Cookina is not for her tut
she claim she can make any one happy.
bhe say the obey God' law altho aha

She conclude a follow:
"And now. gentleman, we have the
urfUn b?"i; t? be i?!d to the
bidder; l woman, look at her. It the nat
beautiful? More, the' talented, and last
or all she i willing to be sold. Step up
and make your bid."
Mi Maggie declare she i weary of
the thralldom of a S 1 0 a week salary a
a stenographer and long for diamond
and necklaces, big red automobiles and
coasting gowns.
"I mean just what I have written. I
shall sell myself to the highest bidder.
But I am to be judge of the highest bid.
For instance, some one might allow me
an annual amount in exchange for what
ever my intellect and genius mav earn
for him. I should consider that a higher
bid than one which demanded of me
something more personal."
