Dr. BlalocE of Walla Walla, has par-
fected his plans for the big rabbit drive
on B la lock island and the hunt will take
place Saturday. October 20. The rail
road has granted a rat of $2.50 for the
round trip from Pendleton to Coyote and
it is prooable that a large number of
sportsmen will go down from this place.
The doctor is determined to rid his
beautiful island of this troublesome past,
and th drives will be continued at inter
vals until their numbers become lessened..

BAKER CITY'S CANDIDATES
There is a three-cornered fight fcr
mayor that promises considerable interest
in Baker City this fall. The candidates
are Mayor Johns, who will accept the
place if elected, but will not make an act
ive fight for the ortlce. Robert Carter,
the last mayor before Mr. Johns, whose

of signatures, and W. J. Patterson, a pro
gressive business man. Mr. Patterson
has not announced his candidacy but
friends have urged him to run and he is a
formidable candidate for the office.
