AMUSEMENT
Elmer Walter's temperance play "A
Millionaire Tramp" which has met. with
much genuine success during the past
five years is booked to appear at the
Opera House Sept. 28. This comedy
drama has many odd characters that
appeal to the theatre-goer. The scenes
are natural and the dialogue Is said to
have been handled in an extremely clever
manner by the author. "A Millionaire
Tramp" bids fair to out-live the
majority of Us imitators for the season
that the plot of the play appeals alike to
gallery and parquette. Jay Pierpont. the
name assigned to "A Millionaire Tramp"
has not graduated from the ranks of the
husky vaudeville hobo he is a gentleman
of culture whose downfall was directly
caused by a broken heart and fast comp
any in which John Barley Corn played
an important part. At La Grande Sept
28.
REALLY GOOD
A noted production "On the Bridge at
Midnight" due here in a short time, is a
remarkable example of a true comedy
drama. It is in fine contrast with the
sensational horseplay 'hat is often foisted
OQ the unsuSDeetina who seek real rlram-

ic superiority of "On the Bridge at Mid
night" including the great bridge scene
but have supplied a deeply interesting,
wholesome story of humor, pathos and
romance woven together with naturalness.
Such comedy characters as Reddy, the
newsboy; and Germany, the professor,
arouse the most genuine laughter because
truly humorous. The serious roles are
pictures from life and especially convinc
ing as played by the exceptional company
presenting the play this season. Wed
nesday, September 26.
October first is the date set for the
Scotch entertainers. Wherever they
have been, in all parts of the world, they
have given genuine satisfaction.
