Mr. Pollock is to be congratulated in hav- j ing the good fortune to secure for a life partner a Lilly of the Valley. I mm n miles W. R. Ledbetter of Alicel was a La Grande visitor this morning. Mr. Led better, states that his experience in the mule business in this valley leads him to wonder why more Union county farmers do not engage in mule raising. He says there is already a market for ail the mules that can be produced in this valiey. According to Mr. Ledbetter a mule colt old enough to wean can be sold for forty five dollars and when it is Imo years old will find a ready sa e at from or. hundred to hundred and twenty -five dollars. He says that a mule can b brought to maturity at a less expense tnan a horse. and that the market is more sure. Mr. f Ledbetter now has about seventy mules - I on the range.
