POSTAGE (Scrlppi New Association) Bristol, Sept. 1 l.-rTh autumnal meet ing of the Association of Chambers of Commerce of the United Kingdom opened her today fo' a two day's session. The attendance is unusually large and an in teresting session is expected. Among the many important matters, which will be considered by the meeting will be . the proposition to start a movement in favor of cheaper postal, telephonic, telegraphic and parcel post rates between Great, Britain and France. There is scarcely any doubt that the convention will sup port such a movement,, but it is more than doubtful that it will be possible, at least at .the present time, to carry the plan to success. Should the Chambers of Com merce express themselves in favor of the plan, an effort will be made to . interest the French and the British governments. It is not believed, that, even if the two governments should favor such a plan, they would car to assume the responsi bility of making such a change without first submitting it to the International Postal Union. The probability is that some of the other countries belonging to the International Postal Union might ob ject to such an arrangement, which would give the two countries considerable ad vantage over other countries belonging to the Union. At all events, the matter will be thoroughly agitated and every effort will be made to bring about the desired end.
