RECORD WHEAT YEHD
T. J. Mead, who farm Arthur Hall
ganns place north or this city, was
among the business callers at Th Re
corder office this week. Mr. Mead had
just finished thrashing his wheat which
gave an average yield of 63 bushols to
the acre. It was of the little club variety
and was a very fin quality. This is th
largest yield reported in the county this

WHY WSI0A11USI LATIN ,
(Literary Digest)
Th us of Latin by physicians in tr
scription writing is commonly regarded
at a harmless survival of medivalittr.
Occasionally a lay writer suggests iu
abandonment In commenting nn re
cant not to this effect In a daily ' paper,
which advocates th compulsory us of
English in precriptione. th Druggist's
Circular and Chemical Oazett takes oc
casion to make a strong defeat of the
tim-honored practic. Says this papr:
"Suppose th sapient writer quoted
whose utterances may tould all right to
those who know no more of it subjects
than he does, should fall sick and his Dhv-
sician should decide that th on thing
needful to save his life was geranium rob-
rtianum. If there were a law prevent
ing th doctor from prescribing in Latin
h would have to choos on of th up
ward of a dozen English names for this
Suppose he choos 'redshanks' and so
wrot th word in his prescription. When
th druggist want to prepare the medicine
h would find that 'redshanks' was th
English nam of at least four ntirly diff
erent plants, namely, th on already
mentioned, polygonium amphibium, poly
gonum persicaria and rumex acetora.
