. THE VALUE Of THE TOAD
There comes to our' table a valuable
pamphlet by A. H. Kirkland.M. S.. assist
ant Entomologisn of our Mass. Gypsy
Moth Committee, which for the benefit of
farmers and others tells bow the toad is a
wonderfully useful creature, about 80 per
cent of its -food being of insects and other
animals directly injurious to crops or in
other ways obnoxious to man.
We well remember when in Pans many
years ago to have seen in shop windows
collections of toads for sale, to be used
in house kitchens and elsewhere for the
destruction of insects, Our Dumb Ani

I am only 82 years old and don't
expect even when I get to be real old to'

else keeps the old as young and makes

PROSPEROUS UNION COUNTY
It would pay every business man in the
city to spend at least two days in visiting
the different portion of the county and see
the evidences of prosperity that abounds
on all sides. It requires no expert to note
the fine crops when you can view thou
sands of acres thickly shocked. Harvest
is now in the highest and while labor is
very scarce the good wheather is permit
ing neighbors to help each other and in the
end the cost will be materially reduced
over former seasons. In the hay sections
of the county, the balers are at work in
many . places and the numerous large
stacks give evidence of the large yeild.
An extended drive through the county to
day cannot but impress anyone of the era
of prosperty that abounds in every direction.
SELLING MONTANA RANGE HORSES
A Cheyenne, Montana, dispatch of re

largest individual horse sales ever made
in this country was concluded when Don

of the Chugwater country, sold to Hoops
