STRUCK BED Of Kf
Frank Rogers, who lives in Menastash
canyon, about ten miles west of Ellens-
burg, has a caller on his place that
both a curiosity and a very valuable
adjunct to have, says the Ellensburg
Localizer.
Several years ago he started to dig a
well near his house and after getting
down five or six feet he struck a hed of
solid ice. He transformed the excavation
from a well into a cellar and now has a
cold storage plant that is second to none
An even temperature is maintained and
no care or expense is required to maintain
it.
The temperature is nsar the zero mark
and a quarter of beef kept in the cellar
remains fresh and sweet for an indefinate
period. This natural ice plant has an
altitude of about 600 feet higher than the
bed of the canyon and has an altitude of
about 1 00 feH above Ellensburg. Mr
Kogersis independent of the icy factory
and at this time such is a most fortunate
condition.
