George Gak'er who lives near La
Grande on the Cove road, Saturday had
a pakful experiment with electricity.
He was repairing a hay stacker and
swung the sweep so it made a connection
with the wires of the Grande Ronde
Electric Company which transmits '.he
power from the Cove power station to
this city.
Mr. Gekler was immediately rendered
uncoi scious. Fortunate two experinced
linemen happened to be working within a
few feet of Mr. Gekler. cutting away
some of the trees which grew in front of
his residence so that there would be no
danger from this source. Messers H. V.
Swan and R. C. Gunn, who immediately
commenced to restore resperation and
before a physican could be summoned Mr.
Gekler had partially regained conscious
ness. His hand was badly . burned and
had he not been standing upon some dry
gravel he would have been instantly killed
This morning he noticed that the bottoms
of his feet was slightly blistered. It was
a very close call.
