Not Britain, Conn, Aug. 6 The Ger
man of this city will begin their celebra
tion of the anniversary of the coming of
the Germans to America this svening
with a big gathering and concert in the
in the East Main street Armory. The
concert will be participated in by the Teu
tonia Maennerchor. the Quatett Club and
the Harford singing societies, assisted by
the American orchestra. After the con
cert there will be a lecture by H. Cronau,
of New York, on the subject of "The Ger
mans in America", and it wiil wind up
with a magnificent ball. Tomorrow there
will be a parade of the German singing
and Turner societies in the morning and
the rest of the day will be devoted to a
popular celebration and picnic.

Louisville. Ky.. Aug. 6 The Concordia
singing Society, one of the leading musi
cal orgainzations of this city is celebrating
its Golden Jubilee todiy. The society
was organized in 1 856 and has enjoyed
an unbroken and active career of fifty
years. Mr. Urban Stengal, one of the
best known German citizens of Louisville
is the only surviving organizer of the so
ciety. The main feature ' of the celebration is
a grand concert held this afternoon at
Phoenix Park. All the German singing
societies of Louisville and Niw Albany will
assist in the celebration.
