Upton Sinclair rs a good example of a
young man who has won reknown
I andhas become a national influence for
good. Sinclair is young, only twenty-seven
years of age, out the fame given him
through his book "The Jungle" is far
reaching. It has awakened the sleepy
public to realize the gravity of the canned
meat question. The book is a poor adver
tisement for the American canned meat
trade in foreign countries, but what of it?
It is chiefly a few millionaires that are
reaping the profit from the trade when
thousands of good American citizens have
lost their health and even life through ig
norance of what they have been eating
Sinclair is a socialist and is by many con
sidered a crank that created the motive
rmwer that set the mill at erindina and he
deserves great credit therefor.
