' ' REDUCED RATES ON GRAIN
Local agents along the line of the 0. R.
& N. have been advised by the general
freight agent of the company, that, on
shipments of grain and flour, including
wheat converted into flour at Portland by
sailing vessels to European ports, the
rates will be 30 cents per ton of 2240
pounds, less than the regular tariff rates.
. While this reduction is. doubtless, the
result of the recent readjustment of rates
in the state of Washington, it will prove
to be a most important feature ir. stimu
lating the export trade throughout the
Pacific Northwest, one that could be
surpassed only by one of a very similar
nature, with an amendment of about a
ten fold increase on the amount of reduc
tion stipulated Haines Record.
