AN UNFORTUNATE SUGOISTIOII
IScrlppt News Awoclatlon)
Hamburg July 1 9 The municipal coun
cil room in the town of Hn w w
fchalir was the scene of an amusing oc
currence a few days ago. Vice-Burgo
master wiide in an enthusiastic speech
proposed that three new atrMts should
be namd after the celebrated physicians
ut. Koch, Dr Behring and Dr. Roentgen
in reoognition of their br lliant aarvio in
the cause of suffering humanity.
A storm of applause greeted the pro
posal, but an ominous silence fell upon
the meeting when Councillor Buschhaus
rose and pointed out that the three streets
in the question led to the cemetery and
that for this reason the eminent scient
ists named miifht not feel unaualified
gratification at the honor it was proposed
to confer upon them. It is hardly surp
rizing to read that after this the matter
was dropped by unanimous consent.
CtNfRAl WEATHER SUMMARY
The feature of the week was the
excessively high temperatures that
revai up to Monday, when in turned
cooler in the western counties, but
continued warm east of the Cascade
Mountains. There was only one hot day
in the coast counties, but elsewhere
maximum temperatures of over BO
degrees were commom and in a few
localities maximum temperatures of over
one hundred degrees occurred. No rain of
consequence was reported, and that
which fell was in the form of small
showerj.that ware heaviest in the
Cascade and Blue mountains. Foeffv
nights and mornings prevailed in the
coast counties. The winds were generally
lignt and mostly trom the northwest
BARMARDT CORRALS COYOTE
If there is any cne in the city who
owned a coyote and has lost him, can
have the same by calling on Dayton
Barnhart of the Standard grocery.
Saturday evening Mr. Barnhart went
out to feid some chicken in the back
yard and saw a coyote, about two
third grown, preparing to catch on for
his supper. So intent was the coyote
watching its intended prey that Date
had no trouble in getting to the gat and
closing it, thus making Mr. Coyote a
prisoner. The coyote now languishes,
in durance vile waiting for his master
for a master he has as was evidenced by
the collar he wore around hi neck.
