near this city will be opened this evening
with a large meeting and the Rev. J. L.
Qlasscook as Evangelist. He is consid

of excursions from Kansas, Nebraska. Iowa
North and South DakotV and Wisconsin
are on their way to this city today , and
it. is expected that they ' will .brine more
than 6,000 excursionists to the Chem-
quamegdn Bay region. The Commercial
Club has made extensive preparations for
the reception aud entertainment of the
excursionists.
NOTICE OF STREET IMPROVEMENT
Notice is hereby given, that the Citv of
La Grande will improve Second Street
therein, by placing the same on estab
lished grade, and properly making all
necessary cuts and fills, from the inter
section of said street with Grandy Ave
nue to the North line of C street in said
City.
That unless a remonstrance sianed bv
the owners of not les,s than two-thirds
the property abutting said Street between
said points be filed with the Recorder on
or before the 25 day of July, 1 906, said
improvement will be made at the expense
of abutting property owners.

Notice is hereby given to the owners
of cattle, horses, and fowls that the ord
inance prohibiting certain animals and
fowls running at large within the city,
from and after this date, July II th . 1 906
will be strictly enforced.
No animal' is permitted to be on the
streets or alleys without being securely
fastened with a rope or chain or directly
under the control of a person capable of
handling said animal while being driven
through the streets.
The owner or party in charge of an
animal is liable to be fined $25 or 10
days imprisonment. The animal may be
impounded and the owner is liable for
all damage sustained by any person.
