President Castro, who retired from the
position of President of Venezuela more
than two months ago. yesterday resum
ed the duties of his office, relieving vice-
president Gomez, who had assumed the
duties of the President during the latter's
retirement. It is understood that Castro
did not wish to resume the presidency,
but was forced by Gomez, who threat
ened to call an extra session of the Vene
zuelan Congress in case Castra should
refuse to resume his position. Ths change
was noi accompanied by any sensational
circumstances and there was no inter
ruption in the regular routii.e of the
various government offices.
