WAR ON WILD MUSTARD
The experience of A. EJ Winterman of
Edwall with wild mustard on his farm, is
perhaps, noan isolated instance of the
ruin that can be wrought by this noxious
weed, Jut it serves to emphasize the
necessity of making more vigorous war
on a pest capable of setting at naught a
great deal of the farmer's labor with his
crops.
The loss of the wheat on a quarter
section of land would certainlv be a
serious matter to the majority of farmers
and it behooves all, as wall in their own
intirest as out of consideration for their
neighbors, to rest not until 1 they have
eradicated the weed. Many have been
quick to recognize the danger and exert
strenuous elT rts to rid themselves of the
wild mustard. Some, it is to be regretted,
show negligence, and are doi.-.g a grave
injustice to the whole community.
In the towns, as well as on the farms,
it is necessary to be up and doing. This
fact was recently recognized at Ritzvilie,
where a "mustard day" was appointed
for the purpose of destroying all the
wild mustard in the city and vicinity. It
was a sort of supplemental "cleaning up"
day. and Ritzville's example might well
be followed by others. Spokesman
Review.
ISIOW Willi THEIR WAR REPORTS
The literature on the war between
Russia and Japan is not so promptly ac
cessible as had been hoped by service
people. The Navy Dtpirtment has pub
lished une volume, tlie report of Surgeon
W. C. Braisted. U. S. N.. as the result of
that ufticer's observations with the. Jap
anese forces, mostly at the bass hospit
als. The next report to come oit will
probably be that of another naval surgeon.
Dr. Raymond Spear, now attached to the
United States ship Baltimore, who was
with the Russian army in Manchuria,
and who had unusual opjioi tumties of
observation. His report deals largely

When our soldiers went to Cuba and
the Philippines, health was the most im
portant consideration. Willis T. Morgan,
retired Commissary Sergeant U. S. A., of
Rural Route I. Concord. N. H.. says: "I
was two years in Cuba and two years
in the Philippines, and being subject to
colds. I took Dr. King's New Discovery
for Consumption, which kept me in per
fect health. And now in New Hampshire
we find it the best medicine in the world

all lung diseases. Guaranteed at Newlin
