Dennis Madden who underwent an op
eration for appendicitis a few weeks aro
returned from Portland on his way to his
home near Elgin. Mr. Madden is looking
well considering what he went through.
Do not forget the social dance Friday
evening at the Commercial club. Good
music will be furnished and a royal good
time is assured. All ladies and gentlemen

Rev. Meredith left today for Wallowa
valley points. He will go as far as

occupy the Methodist pulpit during his

The buildinS used for years as the home
of the La Grande National bank will scon
be no more. Work mem are now engaged
in razing it and it will be replaced by a
more Imposing structure.
The St Peters Guild will meet at the
home of Mrs. J. H. Aiken next Friday
afternoon at 2:50 o'clock. The annual
election of officers will take place and
other important business will come before
the Guild. A full attendance is desired.

turns is being made today. The Board
consists of County Clerk J. B. Gi'.ham,
Justice of Peace J. E. Hough and Justice
of Peace C. W. P. Ellsworth. They ex
pest to have the canvass completed some

Mr. Mac Lennan has a souvenir of the
San Francisco fire when he purchased
the Red Cross drug store he gave a note.
