Memphis, Tenn., June 6 The eleventh
annual convention of the Frater'ity of
Operative Millers of America opened here
oday and more than five hundred dele
gates from all parts of the United States,
Canada and Mexico, are in attendance.
The present convention of the steadily
growing organization promisoa to be4he
most interesting and important in its
history.
Not only operating millers are repre
sented in the convention, bue there are
also many prominent representatives of
co-ordinate branches of the milling in
dustry, including agents for mill products,
grain elevator men and some of the big
bakers of the country.
Many important matters will come up
for discussion, among them measures for
promoting the trade, improved methods
of milling, means of securing a reduction
of the rates of transportation and other
matters of a similar nature. In connect
ion with the convention and exhibition of
flours and grains is held.

Hot Springs, Ark., June 6 There is
not much to be done by the delegates tj
the Democratic State Convention, which
will convene here today. Congressman
John S. Little, who carried the State
Democratic primaries over Attorney
General Robbert L. Rogers and S. Q.
Sevier will, of course be the Democratic
nominees for Governor. Gov. Jefferson
Davis will probably be nominated for
United States Senator and X. O. Pindall
the candidate for Attorney General. It is
expected that the entire work of the con
vention will be finished in a few hours.
HONORING MEMORY OF ST. JOHN.

Kingston, Ont, June 6 Today is the
fifteenth anniversary of the death of Sir
John A. MacDonald. P. C. C. M. G.,
Canada's Grand Old Man and throughout
the Dominion his memory is honored to
day by everyone, without distinction or
party lines. A number of prominent
Conservatives drove to Cataraqui Ceme
tery this morning and decorated the
grave of the deceased statesman. Sev
eral addresses were delivered, in which a
touching tribute was paid to the memory
of the great leader, who is considered one
of the greatest men Canada has ever
produced. Memorial meetings will be
held today in nearly every city in the
Dominion.

general superintendent of the Wei s

home at Alameda last night. Ha is one
of the best known express men on the
coast, having been identified with the
Wells Fargo Company for the past fifty
years.
