Go. Holmes, of tae Cove, is to De An Independent (dndidate

Petitions are being circulated in the
Cove and Union to place Geo. Holmes of
the Cove on the official ballot as an inde-
ndent candidate for the legislature. It
is undersiooa-iriat'he will make the cam
paign on the issue of county division,
which he favors. A phone message was
received from prominent citizens of the
Cove, this afternoon, who emphatically
stated that Mr. Holme would meet with
bitter opposition from that section of the
county, from both Democrats and Repub
licans, who were not in favor of division
and that the whole thing was a move on
the part of Union and they did not propose
to stand for it. ,
