S 4$. t (Scrlppa New Association) '" Milwaukee. Wis., May 16 The fifth annual convention of the International Railway Master Boiler, Makers Associ ation opened her today for a; four days session. Between two hundred and three hundred delegates are in attendance and many of them are accompanied by their wives. , All parts of the United States, Canada and Mexico are represented. The headquarters of ' the association is at Ithe St. Charles Hot!. Among the delegates present- are many prominent railroad men." The convention is of con siderable importance and an interesting program has; been arranged. Many highly important and interesting subjects will be discussed and a number of valu able essays will be read. The International Railway Master Boiler Makers Association was organized in St. Louis in May, 1902. Its member ship is limited to, master boiler makers, assistant foremen, and practical general boiler Inspector in service of two year duration, engaged in railway and loco motive building shops. It now has a membership of about 200, representing nearly every important railroad in the United States, Canada and Mexico. J..T. Goodwin, of the - American Locomotive Works, Richmond, Va., is the president of the association. V . REPUBLICANS ATTENTION V - . May 16 The Western section of the Women's Foreign Missionary society of the Presbyterian church convened in Winnipeg today for a session that will last until Friday. About 200 delegates and visitors, including sev eral noted missionaries, are in attendance A review of the past work of the society and the discussion of plans for its future missionary effort will occupy the conven tion. , ; STANDARD DIVIDEND ASMUNCfD : (Hcilpps News Amioclatlon) New York, May 16-The Standard oil company has declared a quarterly divi dend of nine dollars per share. y KILLED (Scrlpps News Association) Shenandoah, Pa., May 1 5 Sixteen miners of the Pennsylvania and Reading Coal and Iron Company, were more or hui t, and several fatally injured, this morning by an axplosion in on of th mines. It is thought th accident hap pened by explosion of gas. This is th most serious accident that has befallen this community for many years. Two hundred men, excluding fire, stable bosses in th mine when the ex plosion cam. Many of these are uninjur ed but until accounting is mads, friends of th miners are in a frenzy.. Four ar known to be dead. Two bodies were recovered that ar unrtogn'zil U. B'ack dam? is interfering with the rescue work and over forty ar entombed.
