foot for the formation of a theatrical com-;
bination on an enormous scale. w:th a
capital mora than $30,000,000. Tha
firm of Kiaw & Falangar figures conspic
uously in the proposed plan, and Al Hay
man, who is now on his way home from
Europe, will be an important factor in the
formation of the combination, which , will
include the present theatrical syndicate,
several large vaudeville interests and
Western tneatrical corporation that are
now allied with the trust.
Independent manager who are now fight
ing the syndicate, needles to say will not
be affiliated with tha new enterprise.
According to on of tha promoters, the
scheme has been maturing for several
years and is not designed to crush any of
the Independent theatrical firm now
doing business. It is being organized to
gain greater economy and efficiency in
building tha enormous volume of business
detail connected with managing and book-
basis, in which each of the member will
continue to be identified with his present
nam and interests. Each individual will
be protected a to hi own portion of the
common pod. It ha not yet been de
cided where the central office of tha new
trust will be.. -

the port states that the total appraised
value of importations'during the month
of April was $66,280,605.01, an increase
of about $6,000,000 m companion with
the same month of last year. I he im
porta of precious atones during April
amounted to $3,625,932, an increase of
$1,185,000 a compared with the same
month of last year.

valued at $503,000 including fifteen
domestic cars, were imported in April, as
compai ed with 62 cars in the same
month of 1908. Four hundred and fifty
two automobile, includ ng twenty-five
domestic cars, have been imported in New
York since January 1. In the same period
last year 234 cars were imported, in
