The school board made a commendable
move last night in providing that here
after pupils must pass the twelfth grade
before graduating. This means that we
will have no graduating class next year.
Owing to the fact that La Grande has no
nighsr educational advantages beyond the
public school it behoves this community to
maintain the best public school possible,
which means ' the maintainance of a
twelfth grade.
It will be up to the Standard Oil Com
pany to show how it has been conduct
ing business. The Standard is quite
big concer but it will find out that Uncle
S'.m with Theodore Roosevelt at the
helm is just a little bigger.
