RHlIMAHSM AND SQATICA
Many cases of so-called rheumatism
are not rheumatism at all
according to the significance of the
word; but timply the naturally painful
result of pressure upon nerves. Usually
these cases yield to Osteopathic manipul
ation in a very few treatments; the cor
rection of the misadjustment that caused
the pressure ends the trouble.
Sciatica, while sometimes associated
with blood conditions such as exist in
cases of inflammatory rheumatism, is al
most invariably the result of direct irritat
ing pressure upon the sciatic nerve.
This it found to have been brought about
through musclar contracture, due to cli
matic conditions or other causes; or to
definite -body displacements. As the
great sciatic nerve it made up of a num
ber of strands, leaving the spine at dif
ferent points in the lower part of the
back, it is exposed to pressure at a num
bor of points if any bony misjustment or
contracture ,of tissue occurs. Osteopathy
has had unparalled success in the treat
ment of the disease, simply by relieving
the pressure through the correction of
misadjustments and relaxation of tissues.
In muscular rheumatism relief is
generally had in one treatment and there
are many very quick cures. In inflam
matory rheumatism very quick relief is
often had also, although the fact that the
kidneys and liver are here involved makes
complete cure a matter bf a little longer
time.
Even in the most severe' case of chronic
rheumatism Osteopathy may be absolutely
re!ied upon to bring great relief, to stay
the prog: ess of the disease, and often to
bring about a complete cure.

Cod Liver
There has been a aooH Hnl nf rfirn.
ion in La Grande regarding the merits of
cod liver oil preparations, and whether or
not cod liver oil or emulsidns that upset
the stomachs have any medicinal virtue;
therefore, the following letter from M. A.
Cassidy, superintendent of schools, Lex
ington, Ky., will be read with interest:
"I am pleased to state that after, having
used and tested the different cod liver oil
preparations on the market. I find Vinol to
be far superior to them all. It it palat
able and pleasant to the taste, in fact,
the oily, fishy taste of cod liver oil is done
away with entirely, and the curative and
strengthening properties of Vinol are truly
remarkable.
. "Vinol built up my system, strengthened
my nerves and made a new man of ma.
and I heartily endorse it as the most
efficacious and agreeable cod liver oil on
the market."
Mr. Newlin of the Newlin Drug com
pany when asked his opinion in regard to
Vinol, replied, "We fir.nly believe
Vinol to be the best preparation of cod
liver oil, therefore, the greatest strength
creator and health-restorer known to
medicine today. We have never sold any
thing in our store equal to Vinol to build
up the system, strengthen the nerves.
cure indigestion, chronic coughs, colds.
bronchitis and incipient consumption, or
to make growing children robust and give
strength and vigor to the aged, and to
make the weak strong and the sick well.
It is for this reason that we offer to

it fails." Newlin Druo Company.
