won the 400 meter running race in fifty-
three and a fifth seconds. Immediately
following this event, J. D. Lightbody of
Chicago, the wonderful half-miler won
the 1600 meter race In four minutes and
twelve seconds. The American team is
now far in the lead and it is almost an
assured fact that they will capture the
most points in the track and field games.
