Stockton, Cal., April 16. Tht trial of
Mrt. Emma Ledoux, for tht murder of
Albert M. McVictor, whose body wai die
covered in a trunk at the depot, will com

Ledoux was brought to plsad to the in

to her. When asked to plead, she
answered slowly and distinctly "not
guilty." After the proceedings, a large
crowd, mostly women, lined the street
itV'jutsida the courthouse to get a view of
the prisoner. C. H. Fairweil, a well
known local attorney was secured to
assist Attorneys Crocker and McNoble
for the defense.
NEVADA ORE ATTRACTS ATTENTION

Virginia, Nevada. April 16 Resulting
from the discovery of samples of ore
Ramsey district cabinet workers have put
damper on the enthusiasm over the
find. Three hundred men are already on

faioons have started business in the
county. Ramsey is 26 miles from Corn
stock and is drawing' all' the laboring
men from surrounding towns.

of Pattibona. Moyar and Haywood now in
Idaho, charged with assisting in the
assassination of Ei-Governor Steunen
berg. The appeals ask that the case be

GRAND JURY READY '

stated that the Grand Jury has finished
the investigation of the Washington Life
Insurance Company. The decision will
probably be handed down tomorrow with
indictments for perjury and forgery.

and other. Workers on the Bell Telephone

WALSH HEARING POSTPONED

Chicago, III April 16-John R. Walsh,
the bank defaulter, has had his primary
hearing postponed until May third. The
charge as It reads is illegal.
Morrison announced that an investiga
tion of the Walsh books will require at
least six weeks and no hearing will be
had till that time. - Communication from
time to time is necessary. Walsh will
not get any benefit of the immunity law
as it applies only to inter-state commerce
cases.

1st. this year until Npril Ilth. 1909 as
the time when the coastwise laws will
apply between this country and the
