W. Baker has prepared a summary of the
results of the operation of the game laws
from January 1( last, to the first rf
April
Convictions were as follows: For
trapping beavers, two convictions, fine
$35; for kiiling deer, seven convictions,
fines $626; for having in possession un
tagged deer hides, one conviction, fine
$25; for hunting without a license, two
convictions, fine $50; for selling deer
hides, one conviction, fine $36; for put
ting sawdust in streams, three convic
tions, fines $125; selling fish without
license, six convictions, fines $226; kill
ing seagulls, one conviction, fine $5.
Eight cases were dismissed and sen'
tence was suspended in one case. The
fines total $1120.

STRUT IMPROVEMENT

Be it resolved, that there shall be con
structed a sidewalk on the East side of
Fourth St from the south side of I St
to the North side of C St in the City of
La Grande, Oregon, where no sidewalk at
the present time exists, and such side
walks as are already constructed on the
said East side of Fourth St shall be
placed in good repair, between the south
side of J. St to the north side of C. St
That such sidewalks shall be constructed
in accordance with the ordinance govern
ing the construction of sidewalks in the
City of La Grande. Orecron. and the same
shall be seven feet in width, and shall
be done at the expense of the abutting
property owners. That the said side
walks shall be constructed or repaired by
the 20th day of April 1906.

April 20, primary election day, will be
a legal holiday, and consequently no
school will be held that day. A decision
to this effect has been given by Attorney
General Crawford, and notice has been
sent to the various county superintendents
by State Superintendent Ackerman.

city of La Grande, Oregon, and that said
sidewalks shall be constructed in accord
ance with the established grade and shall
