A man who is not smart enough to i
the necessity of registering, is certainly
not smart enough to vote intelligently on
election day, and as a matt sr of fact
should not be allowed to do so.

dry. We have about 5000 of them which
we must dispose of this spring. We will
exchange them for live stock, hay, grain,
eggs, potatoes or other produce.

No. 1606 Sixth Street Also dry cord-
wood for sale in any quantity.
J. Anthony.
There is much food for reflection con'
tamed in Mayor Stoddard s message.
Every citizen of La Grande should read
the message once, then read it again, and
think it over awhile and then read it
again.
To promote and to securi puriety,
higher, nobler, healthier livi.ig, public
spirit, filial piety, honest business methods
and patriotism, are duties owjd by the
newspaper to its patrons and their
families.
If every council meeting thrcughout the
year is as well attended as th one last
night the councilman might have reason
to believe that they are . the center of
attraction. They needn't worry: in a few
weeks the new will wear off and there
will be few to disturb their deliberation
Now that the registration books are
down town, there is absolutely no excuse
any one can reasonably offer for not
registering. The time is short and every
voter should register at once. It
simply a matter of business and duty.
