Such an industry has been in operation at Albany for a number .nf years. At the Lewis & Clark fair their product was equal to any on exhibition. Y., giving an in teresting account of how a friend of hers, who had arranged with her husband, that whichever of them should be sup posed to have died, should be kept un buried until the beginning of decay. NEW 0. R.& WIRE Mr. Fred Worstell. in charge of sixteen men are stringing new copper wire forth O. R. & N. Co. The new wire will reach from Huntington to Portland and from Portland to Ashland. Work was commenced at Huntington, and so far an average of ten miles per day has been made. MIGHT HAVE BEEN WORSE A San Francisco man has lost the pow er of speech as a result of taking his whisky straight and using kerosene as a "chaser." The San Francisco -brand will usually turn the trick without the aid of kerosene oil. ... A GRAM BALL : The seventh annual ball, given last night by the B. of L. T. in the Commercial Club was one of the very enjoyable affairs of the season. The decorations were of the most artistic and elaborate order and reflect great credit upon the decorators, Messers Chas. G. Stacy, C. C. Hamilton and J. F. Hickey. Distributed through the hall were 12S lanterns of green, yellow and white colors; 100 green, 60 yellow and 60 white flags;' 10 large mirrors and many hundred yards of bunt ing which gave the room the appearance, of a fairy palace. At the west end of the hall there was a representation of a tunnel with train No. 315 just disappear ing into it a brakeman standing with his lantern near its entrance a notice posted near where he stood which read "Ladies must not flirt with this brakeman," and on the opposite side of the tunnel were these words "No S 1 6 will stop one hour for supper at Spokane Cafe. The music wis all that could be desired and the "tripping of the light fantastic" lasted into the "wee sma" hours," and it was pronounced by all present a most delight ful and enjoyable affair.
