AMUSEMENTS
MISS GRACE JOHNSON,
With Graje Johnson Company...
, A WEEK S ENOAQEMENT
The Grace Johnson Company will open
week's engagment this evening at Ste
ward's opera bouse, and the theater going
public has a right to expect a good enter
tainment. The press throughout the West
have only words of praise for the leading
ady, Miss Grace Johnson, and the same
Jican almost be said of the entire company.
l ne oox sheet cms aiterqoon assures a
good attendance for the opening night.
The opening bill will be "A SoutharnlRose''
which Miss Johnson is said to appear
to her best advantage. The piece is re
plete with good comedy though the
strength of the play is not sacrifi-.ed in
order to create a laugh.
OLEB CLUB
The Washington State College Glee
Club will soon make its tenth annual tour
of the northwest. Since last September
the Club has been hard at work under
the skilled guidance of Prof. Strong. The
Glee contains more voices than usual and
will be assisted by. Mrs. strong, soprano
prima dona and Prof. Kimbrough pianist
The chorous of the Club is especially
strong both in numbers and in the quality
of the voices. The solo work is much
above the ordinary. Original compositions
by members of the Club, especially . those
of Mr. Deforest Cline, are expected to
create favorable comment.. A musical
comedy is also part of the program. The
Club tour will begin about Feb. 8th. arid
last two weeks. The manager, Frank
Kreager left this morning to make dates
or ten concerts from the following towns:
Lewiston, Walla Walla, Dayton, Waits
burg, Pendleton, Salem, La Grande, Bak
er City,-The Dalles, Corvallis, Eugene,
II REASONS WELL
Do not deaden a crying nerve with
opium but remove the prod that makes
the outer. Nerves are intelligent and
they do not cry ''wolf! wolf!" unless there
cause for it It would be one way to
restore confidence in the sheep fold by
giving the lambs something to destroy all
ense of fear at the approach of the de
vourer; but it would not make for their
welfare. Nor does opium or other drugs
which deaden the nervous system, pro
tect the body against the ravages of dis
ease. It simply paralyzes the usual ac
tion of the nerves by which the body is
warned of its enemy disease.
The Osteopath seeks the prod that
causes the pain of gastralgia, the twitch
ing of St. Vitus dance, or the lethargy of
paralysis. He removes It when that is
possible, and the sensible nerves cease
their cry. Pain is the prayer of the body
for relief, not the asking for nerve intoxi
cation. Let your nerves think for you. II
they tell you there is trouble, go to an
Osteopath. Your body needs not doping
but good engineering.
NOTICE
To whom it may concern: This is to

not kicked out of my house by my hue'

and they are not causing any disturbance
between my husband and me. My
mother is her to nurse me through con
finement. Mrs. D. M. Letts.
A I ttle lova a little wealth.

It's all I ask except, good health,

Portland, Mootesano,. Tacoma,

North Yakima. Everett. Ellensbura and
Spokane. The proposed tour this year is
more extended than before. However
the boys feel that the Club additions, and
a better program, they will, meet .with
success. Last year the Club received

Mr. Charles B. Han'ord's present tour
nas been an occis.o.t of the most bril

has ever been associated. This is saying
much, for Mr. Hanford Is rec ignized , to
day as a leader in his profession; one
who preserves its most worthy traditions
an i yet Who believes in pro il ng every

The Taming of the Shrew and Ingomar.
Not only d es this tour present in Mr
Hanford a star whose popularity might
